Life Options

Life Options, incorporated in 1999, is in the business of helping create change in individuals and the communities they belong to through Emotional Intelligence and Coaching.

Everyone struggles with issues and challenges some relating to ourselves, others relating to the environments we find ourselves in. These struggles include understanding ourselves and others and our responses to people and situations. We also have difficulty effecting change even after cognitively accepting the need for it.

Emotional Intelligence as a discipline provides the framework for understanding what we are perceiving, how we choose to respond, and why we choose the way we do by framing or reframing our actions and reactions through an understanding of language, currency and the engagement of our brain.

Coaching complements the practice of EI by supporting the individual or group in the process of self-awareness, alignment, planning and change.

Research has found that measurable Emotional Intelligence(EI) competencies, if learned and practiced can significantly influence one’s health (25%), life satisfaction (44%), relationship quality (32%), self-efficacy & performance/achievement (50%).

The percentages represent the degree to which, by regression analysis, EI influences those barometers of life quality, with other unproven factors like IQ, knowledge, background, environment, accounting for the rest.

We offer individual & group coaching, training and consulting services in the area of culture change, collaboration, alignment & ownership to improve personal life quality & performance at work in schools and other organizations.

We also offer personal life and career coaching for individuals, mostly to school and university students, and young working adults.

Our core business is in partnering schools in their efforts at implementing Social Emotional Learning curriculum. In conjunction with 6 Seconds of San Mateo, California, US, ( www.6seconds.org ), we run Educators’ EQ Certification workshops to equip core administrators, teachers and counselors with the latest methodologies, learning aids, and curriculum planning and development strategies.

We further support the schools in training staff, providing curriculum development consulting, providing programs for students (link), and providing parent education programs.

We also offer school climate surveys – Assessment of School Climate tool, and individual adult and student EQ self-assessments to measure outcomes pre and post ‘intervention’.

Mark Sng

Mark Sng is a practicing coach and EQ practitioner based in Singapore. He is married without children and his major passions are education and rugby.

Mark serves the community through involvement in schools and a community hospital, volunteer coaching in school rugby, life/career coaching services, the ICF - Singapore Chapter, and multiple portfolios in the local parish & the Anglican diocese.

He was previously employed with GE (USA), Black & Decker & Tyco, operating in 12 countries as head of Regional Operational Audit, ensuring operational effectiveness, efficiency and optimal human resource deployment.

Mark has had invaluable exposure to workplace human leadership and response models in different cultures across functions and levels.

Mark specialises in coaching students and young working adults in response to a passion and calling. Since 2000 he has been developing group coaching programs for school athletes aimed at enhancing sports excellence as well as personal development. He has had considerable success with rugby teams and individuals.

He brings a wealth of global experience from the corporate world in mentoring and counseling to augment his coaching competencies.

Mark is also actively involved in researching teenage student issues in the community and in the development of EQ education curriculum and programs for parents, teachers & students through his involvement in the work of EQ 8, the educational arm of the non-profit organization 6 Seconds, the foremost EQ organization in the development of practical teaching methods and learning aids.

Mark draws from his global exposure to add innovative dimensions to the unique 6 Seconds methodology of bringing emotional learning to schools. Training programs involve multi-sensory activities, video clips, music, games, exercises & novel learning processes. Content is drawn from the different self-sciences, cognitive learning methodology as well as sports psychology.

Mark Sng's Credentials as a Coach

• Trained to be a coach through CoachU, a virtual coach university. Completed the Coach Training program and the Corporate Coaching Program.

• In the process of getting International Coach Federation – ‘Associate Certified Coach’ accreditation.

• Mark is a certified Six Seconds ( a non-profit organization in the forefront of EQ research and training with leading EQ researchers and practitioners on its Board and in its Faculty) trainer, licensed SEI (Six Seconds Emotional Intelligence Psychometric Tool) Professional Consultant, and Master Practitioner involved in curriculum and program development and product testing alongside Faculty members.

• Is certified as a user of the DISC psychometric tool by the Institute for Motivational Living, PA, USA.

• Has coached high level executives in multinationals, a junior diplomat, university students, young working adults and school children.

• Has undertaken group coaching of student rugby team (13-17 year olds) – mental strength training and personal development with very positive results.

• Has a wide and significant network
